Matthew 27:54
"When the centurion and those with him who were guarding Jesus saw the earthquake and all that had happened, they were terrified, and exclaimed, “Surely he was the Son of God!”
The centurion and those who were with Jesus were filled with awe. I can't imagine what it would've been like to walk with Jesus and see him perform miracles. I would've been in awe of that alone. But it says after the earthquake after Jesus yielded up His spirit they were in awe saying "Truly this was the Son of God." They believed Jesus, but were still in awe that He was the son of God after he died. Amazing. He placed his faith in him at this moment and began the fulfillment of Jesus' prediction"I if I be lifted up, will draw all people to myself." Here was a gentile coming to faith in Christ crucified! Lord,
I am in awe of you. I never saw your crucifixion, but you live in me, your spirit dwells in me. Thank you for the cross and fulfilling your father's will for me. Amen.
