Scripture: Matthew 13:23 "But he who receives seed on the good ground is he who hears the word and understands it, who indeed bears fruit and produces: some a hundredfold, some sixty, some thirty."
Observation: Jesus is explaining the parable of the sower. A parable given to the multitudes from a boat (cool mental picture) as they were listening on shore. (Tell me a painter somewhere has painted this) He explains the meaning of the parable in private with His disciples.
Application: The word needs to be applied in my life. I should have a transforming effect, renewing my mind in such a way that my life reflects the truth of what I'm reading. It should always get in me and work itself through me that I might be changed and bear fruit in the good graces that God has already prepared for me.
Prayer: Lord help me to be a doer of Your word and not just a hearer. And may I bear fruit according to Your will, to a hundredfold if You'll allow it! Let Your word get in me and read me as I read it
